Jeff Winget's Resumé

Profile

For the last three years I’ve taught English and Spanish at Lake Powell School. I enjoy working with people, especially young people. I’m a good communicator, a strong leader, and a good problem solver. Furthering my education and learning is one of my greatest desires and hobbies. I’m an avid reader and writer, and I value the power of language and communication. To me, language and communication hold the keys to leadership and success. I bring that understanding and those skills to the work place.

Experience

Teacher, Lake Powell School, Bullfrog, Utah | 2004-Present

I teach English and Spanish to grades 6-12 in the small K-12 school in Bullfrog, Utah. I also serve on the school’s Community Council as the faculty representative. As part of the job, I must not only impart information, but I also must maintain a comfortable and productive atmosphere in my classroom.

Writing Assistant, Southern Utah University Writing Center, Cedar City, Utah | 2001-2004

My main duty in the Writing Center was to tutor students in essay writing. I worked one-on-one with students to address their strengths and concerns with writing. I also took a large administrative role in my last year, training new tutors, working with professors in classrooms, and writing “tip sheets” for tutors and students to use in the writing process.

Resident Trainer, Chrysalis, Inc., Cedar City, Utah | 2001-2004

Chrysalis is a full-time, live-in care facility for people with disabilities, providing them with opportunities to succeed and giving them the necessary care to live healthy lives. I worked in a home with three clients, cooking, cleaning, giving care, entertaining, providing working opportunities, etc.

Teaching Intern, Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah | 2003 (Sept.-Dec.)

I taught a freshman English class at SUU (ENGL 1010). I was in charge of creating curriculum, teaching it, and assessing students’ knowledge of that curriculum.

VISTA Volunteer, Carbon Reads Project, Price, Utah | 2000-2001

The VISTA Program is run by the federal government and functions much like a domestic version of the PeaceCorps. My project in Price was concerned with recruiting, training, and placing community volunteers in schools. I also worked in an individual school, working with struggling students, reading with classes, and helping to promote literacy.
